St Mary's was very pleased to welcome to the College Mrs Sylvia
Katete Gavigan, the Honorary Consul of Uganda to Ireland.

Mrs Katate Gavigan spoke to student teachers about volunteering
opportunities in her country and her hopes to recruit students
for an initiative being encouraged by the Ugandan Government —
the Children's Educational Development Fund.
Their objective for 2012 is to supply forty newly qualified or
student teachers, for schools outside Kampala. They are also hoping
to expand the programme to take in students from other disciplines,
particularly with project management potential.
