Teacher Education for the Irish medium sector was
celebrated in style at a recent presentation event at St Mary’s.

Nig Uidhir (Lecturer), Róisín Ní Chionnaith
( Final Year B.Ed. student), Sinéad Quinn (Post primary
Irish-medium PGCE student), Professor Peter Finn, Principal, St.
Mary’s University College, Michelle Ní Fhíoruisce
(Irish-medium primary PGCE student), Muireann Ní Mhóráin,
Chief Executive of An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta agus
Gaelscolaíochta, Jill Garland, Coordinator of Irish-medium
Post Primary PGCE.
Róisín received the Iníon léinn barrchumais
award for excellence in final year BEd studies IME, presented
on behalf of Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta, by Chairperson
Caoimhín Patton.
Michelle received the Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta Iníon
léinn barrchumais award for excellence in the PGCE programme.
Sinéad received the Pobal na Gaeltachta award in recognition
of her commitment to building community. This award reflects the
high value placed on community at St Mary’s and also celebrated
the 40th year since the establishment of the Irish-speaking community
at Shaw’s Road in Belfast. This award was presented by Diarmad
Ó Bruadair, a member of the Gaeltacht community at Shaw’s
Road.
