Steve Chinn is an internationally renowned speaker and author in the field of Mathematics learning difficulties. He taught for 40 years in mainstream schools, in Further Education and in Special Education. He founded and for nineteen years ran Mark College, a school for dyslexic boys, which received several awards.
Steve is visiting Belfast as part of the 'The Trouble with Maths' UK tour organised and promoted by Learning Works. There is a presentation on the 8th February entitled 'Key Issues that Create Failure' at St Mary's University College in Conference Room 2 between 1.00 and 3.30pm, where Steve will work with college lecturers and Maths Advisers from each of the education boards. By communicating with all the relevant bodies in Mathematics education in Northern Ireland the aim is to help schools improve their knowledge and understanding of why pupils experience difficulties in learning Mathematics.
The 'The Trouble with Maths' tour is a series of one-day training events aimed at teachers and professionals and Steve Chinn will be presenting his unique view on 9th February at the Ramada Hotel where he will explore the latest developments in understanding learning difficulties as well as providing practical ideas and solutions.
