The Wider
Horizons Project, which is now entering its twentieth
year, is a project organised jointly by four Colleges of Education
in Ireland:
through Middlesex
Community College, Lowell, Massachusetts.
The project in is three phases:
- Preparatory stage (one weekend, around Easter, and one day
prior to departure);
- Six weeks (late June - early August) working in Lowell, Ma.
(25 miles north of Boston);
- Evaluation/reunion weekend in Ireland.
The project involves, after a period of initial training, working
in multi-cultural teaching situations with educationally disadvantaged
children, teenagers or adults.
