Current Research

I am completing a professional doctoral based study at Queens University, the focus of my study is the social and collective identities of Irish Language learners and speakers. I have an interest in the use of visual arts as a method of enquiry, which has supported my investigation of this subject. My research interests also include the effects of trauma on the lives of children and the impact of the Northern Ireland Troubles on children and schools.

I have experience of working on a 3 year education research and development pilot project for Queen’s University Belfast. This included researching the impact of the Troubles on young people, teachers and schools and providing in-service training for post-primary teachers relating to the effects of Trouble’s related trauma and inter-generational trauma on children and young people.
