High School Musical!
The new College Hall was filled with energy and excitement as St Mary’s students brought High School Musical to life in an amazing, sold-out performance. Featuring iconic characters such as jocks, thespians, brainiacs, skaters, and basketballers, the production showcased the incredible talent and creativity we are lucky to have within our college community.
A heartfelt thank you to the team of directors and dance captains, whose dedication and vision brought this show to life. They are all final year students, who have done a fantastic job of balancing their studies alongside working round the clock to ensure all went well, therefore a special congratulations must go to Ciara Wilson, Rosie McElroy, Molly Hinds, Finola Bateson, Caitlin Murray and Rachel O’Hanlon.
Behind the scenes, Gareth’s expert AV work ensured the show went off without a hitch, while Eilis and Christopher managed all the essential background logistics. Another thanks to Gerd for capturing the magic of the night with stunning cast photos. As a Students’ Union we were able to treat the cast to pizza.
The event was made even more meaningful by a raffle held during the interval in aid of children’s charity Saphara, with incredible support from the audience.
The production relied on a true team effort, with students voluntarily taking on vital roles including ticketing, car parking, stewarding, ushering, and running the tuck shop, as well as assisting with clean-up duties, ensuring all went smoothly.
This student-led production not only highlighted the extraordinary talent within St Mary’s but also demonstrated the power of teamwork and community spirit. In true High School Musical fashion, it reminded us all that “we’re all in this together!”
Ciara Wilson, the director of the production, added – ‘Our production of High School Musical was a huge success. The first of its kind in our new and improved College Hall, the production impressed audience members and showcased the brilliant talent on offer in St Mary’s. The crowd sang along and joined in on the laughs, while our amazing cast wowed them and loved every second of being on stage. We are incredibly proud of all of our cast members and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Performing Arts Society.’
