BA Liberal Arts

Drawing upon the experience of American and European liberal arts colleges, St Mary’s offers a programme with three key aims:

  • to provide students with the skills and insight needed for success in work and life in the 21st century;
  • to offer a breadth of learning across a range of disciplines that builds on the broad curriculum offered by our schools;
  • to enable students to deepen their knowledge and understanding in a chosen subject area.

The College has an extensive network of partners across the public, private and voluntary sectors to support Work Related Learning. A dedicated Placement Office for Liberal Arts students manages this network and also supports career development.

The value of Liberal Arts

A Liberal Arts degree prepares the citizens of tomorrow to live creative, productive and responsible lives in a dramatically changing world. It offers a broad and balanced programme of learning as preparation for further academic studies, professional development or employment.
