MSc Student Workshops
MSc student & Antrim Senior Footballer, Cormac McGettigan, recently held a series of workshops in the College.
Entitled ‘Guidance for Coaches in Aiding Young Athletes Return from Injury’, these workshops were designed to benefit anyone involved in games but with particular reference to coaches, players and parents. The workshops featured guest speakers such as Cian Clinton, a physiotherapist with an extensive background in both playing and physio in GAA, and Tom Johnston, an Antrim senior footballer.
Those in attendance were treated to a series of discussions on common injuries, how injuries impact coaching and how they can mitigate the risks. Additionally, advice and coping strategies for players and coaches were shared, with the overarching motto: “Players don’t care what you know until they know you care.”
