Saphara Trip to India 2025
In April 2025, students and staff from St Mary’s and Stranmillis University Colleges will travel to India to work in schools as part of the Saphara project. The trip forms part of the Professional Learning in a Changing Society (PLiCS) Programme.
Saphara believes every child is of immense value and worth and that education is key to enabling disadvantaged youth to overcome poverty. Saphara believes in the power of education to allow all young people, especially those from marginalised communities, to meet their potential and is committed to providing transformational opportunities for educators.
The team will include six Year 3, BEd students from each university college along with two staff members. Preparations for the trip began with a team workshop on December 4th, 2024. This will be followed by a residential early in the New Year, before the team makes the transformational journey to India in early April.
