Irish American Scholars
St Mary’s hosted the ‘Irish American Scholars’ matching meeting on behalf of the British Council NI planning for the next arrival of U.S. students in the 2025/26 academic year. Representatives from the Associations of Methodist, Catholic and Presbyterian Colleges in the U.S. met with Queen’s University, Ulster University and St Mary’s.
The partnership allows the international mobility of students from NI institutions to study in the states and for U.S. students to study at an institution in NI.

St Mary’s University College hosted the 2026 Ulster GAA Student Bursary Awards in Belfast, celebrating over 60 third‑level students recognised for promoting the ethos and values of Gaelic Games. Officials Brian McAvoy and Michael Geoghegan presented bursaries to awardees from across Ulster, including several standout St Mary’s students honoured for their commitment both on and off the field.
Commissioner for the Ulster-Scots and Ulster British tradition visits St Mary’s

Our College Principal Prof. Peter Finn welcomed Lee Reynolds, Commissioner for the Ulster-Scots and Ulster British tradition as well as Alan Bree from his Office. It provided a good discussion on Lee’s role in the context of our College commitment to pluralism.
DfE Widening Participation in HE Consultation

St Mary's was pleased to host the Widening Participation Forum engagement event with the Department for the Economy NI Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald MLA encouraging everyone to respond to the consultation on a refreshed approach to widening participation in higher education.
