Music Education: Crossroads and Connections
St Mary’s hosted the Annual Conference of the Society for Music Education In Ireland ‘Crossroads and Connections’ bringing together educators, researchers and practitioners from across Ireland and beyond to explore current issues in music education, creativity and community engagement.
Our Principal Prof. Peter Finn welcomed the delegates to the conference in the College’s 125th year of teacher education provision. Music education has been on the curriculum at St Mary’s since 1901 with evidence of that in a report at the time.
Congratulations to the Society for Music Education In Ireland organising committee, Dr Frances Burgess & the St Mary’s University College Music Dept for creating such an energetic week of talks & workshops.
Hosting this event reflects our College’s commitment to community outreach, inter-institutional collaboration and the sharing of knowledge, all central pillars of our mission and institutional plan.
