Sudanese Doctors Initiative
Medical practitioners from the Sudanese Advocacy Association Northern Ireland (SAANI) met in the College this week to discuss what actions can be taken to highlight the humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing war in Sudan. Chaired by Dr Manal Hassan and Dr Mohamed Hassan, the doctors agreed to lobby local MLAs and MPs to build public and political awareness around the issues. The group has also secured medical supplies to be dispatched and intends to send a delegation to clinics in Sudan to assist with field medical care. Over seventy Sudanese doctors work in the NHS in Northern Ireland. For further information contact Professor Gerard McCann g.mccann@smucb.ac.uk
