As part of the College’s widening participation and outreach activity, pupils from St Louise’s Comprehensive College Belfast were invited to participate in a Taster Experience, led by our Technology and Design lecturer Joe Hughes, ably assisted by three of our current Technology and Design student ambassadors. This pilot outreach activity was designed specifically for pupils who are studying the subject of Technology and Design at A–Level, to give them the opportunity to experience a university environment in this subject. The pupils took part in guided interactive activities including assembling components, design sketching and creating CAD models for 3D printing. This experience provided them with an insight to what St Mary’s can offer them as a pathway beyond post primary level education.
