Advice on Grade Profiles or Equivalent UCAS Tariff Points

English Students in classroom lecture

What grades do I require to gain a place on a Course for the BA (Hons) Liberal Arts degree programmes?

St Mary’s administers an independent student admissions system which uses grades achieved and published after assessment/examination, rather than using predicted grades (which is the UCAS approach).  Therefore in most cases the College will make offers to applicants after results are published in August, on the basis of the highest ranked applicants for each course.

Each year we publish the most common grade profiles which successful applicants attained to gain entry to our undergraduate courses in the preceding two years.

The grade profiles provide applicants with a general indication of the type of results which most likely will be required to obtain a place.  It should be noted that the grade profiles are the ‘most common’ in a given year, and are therefore a guide only.

BA (Hons) Liberal Arts with English – Grade Profile September 2022

Most common grade profile for entry in September 2022 – ABB.

The UCAS tariff point equivalence – 128.

BA (Hons) Liberal Arts with English – Grade Profile September 2023

Most common grade profile for entry in September 2023 –  BCC.

The UCAS tariff point equivalence – 104.

Additional Information

The Liberal Arts courses at St Mary’s have a focus on a particular subject so a grade in the range of A – C is required for entry.
This does not apply in the case of the BA (Hons) with History, or BA (Hons) with Physical Education.
