I started the Masters to instil confidence in myself by delving into best practice which allowed me to explore management and leadership styles. The theory gives you the confidence in operate in a senior role. In my Masters dissertation I explored under-achievement in boys and developed a bespoke programme with the aim of allowing them to improve outcomes in their reading and spelling. I would encourage anyone thinking of an MEd that it is very worthwhile as seeing the theory influence practice makes the Masters something of real value in your role.

I undertook the MEd programme to further develop my theoretical knowledge of education and apply this to my classroom practice. The programme has given me the opportunity to explore current best practice in the classroom from the discussions with my peers and the module leaders. The quality of teaching in the programme has been of a very high standard with great support from the staff and I have grown in confidence throughout the programme. I have the opportunity to complete my Masters with a specialist option in ‘Developing Physical Education, School Sport and Coaching Science’. The opportunity to complete a Masters with a specialist option was a great incentive for me to continue my education and professional development in an area of great interest to me.
