‘Africa Adapting’ Exhibition
‘Africa Adapting’ is a touring exhibition from charity Self Help Africa. The photo collection looks at how women and girls in Africa are coping and adapting to challenges including climate change, food security and gender inequality. It profiles the experiences of women and girls who have succeeded in building opportunities and harnessing potential for themselves, their families, and communities.
At the launch of the tour Martha Hourican, Director of Public Engagement at Self Help Africa, commented: “Access to food is a fundamental human right – yet in 2024 as we commemorate World Food Day, more than 730 million people around the world are facing hunger, due to a number of global shocks and challenges. Self Help Africa’s ‘Africa Adapting’ exhibition not only highlights some of these challenges, but also the innovative solutions being put in place by the women that we are working with.
These are stories of strength and resilience, and the power of community in the face of adversity.” It is currently on show in the Cardinal Newman Library and will run until 28th October 2024.
